In the south of Peru this morning local time, a bus that was traveling from the capital of Lima to the city of Ayacucho crashed. At least 21 people died in the accident, according to the local Andina news agency. It is not yet clear the cause of the accident or how many people were on the bus. According to a list published by an Argentinian server Infobae39 passengers left Lima, but other people were able to join the route.
“Rescue work continues and unofficially I can say that 21 people have died,” the agency quoted Anda’s local police chief, Johny Valderrama, as saying. He also stated that an unspecified number of injured were taken to hospitals in the Ayacucho region.
The accident of the bus, which belonged to the company Molina Unión, happened around five in the morning local time (noon CET). The bus went off the road for an unknown reason and rolled about 200 meters down the slope. It is on the video and photos from social networks see a completely destroyed overturned bus and a number of things scattered around it, as well as several victims and injured, wrote the Infobae server.
The Infobae server also wrote that the road on which the accident happened is in bad condition. Also in May this year, a bus crashed on it, 17 people died in the accident.
