At least three people died when a bus with 58 people on board plunged into Lake Hadsel, in northern Norway, apparently after the driver lost control of the vehicle and went off the road, police reported.
Although the causes of the accident are currently unknown, the possibility is suggested that it could be due to the bad weather prevailing in the area.
Emergency services and police rushed to the scene, near the Raftsundet Strait, which separates the Lofoten and VesterĂ¥len archipelagos.
The passengers are of at least eight different nationalities
The region’s police chief, Bent Are Eilertsen, said that some of the passengers have been able to be evacuated at a nearby school and that the bus is partially covered by water.
According to the newspaper Dagblattet, the passengers came from at least 8 different countries.
An alarm has been declared in the region and all available rescue forces have been alerted.
