At night, the clock should be turned back one hour / Day

The Ministry of Economy (ME) states that at the level of the European Union, a common vision regarding new conditions regarding the change of time twice a year has not yet been reached, therefore the previously approved procedure is still valid – summer time in Latvia is valid from the last Sunday of March to the last Sunday of October.

The transition to summer time and back in Latvia is determined by the regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers of October 26, 2010 “On the transition to summer time”. On the other hand, the transition to summer time in the EU is determined by the directive of the European Parliament and the Council of January 19, 2001 on rules regarding summer time. The directive defines the start and end of summer time uniformly for all EU member states.

Daylight saving time was first introduced in Latvia in 1981. Since 1997, summer time is valid from the last Sunday of March to the last Sunday of October.
