Prague – Rooms with Christmas decorations will be part of today’s tour of Prague Castle, which will also show people normally inaccessible places during this year’s second open day. Those interested will once again see the premises where President Petr Pavel usually holds meetings or receives important guests. Entry is free, the communications department of the presidential office informed ČTK.
The previous open day was in March, so today Prague Castle will be open from 09:00 to 17:00. The visitor circuit starts at the Matyáš Gate, then people look into the Plečnik Hall of Columns, the Rothmayer Hall or the Spanish Hall or the Rudolf Gallery. The tour will also include the Throne Room, the Habsburg Salon and the Salon of Mirrors.
The permanent exhibitions, St. Vitus Cathedral, Golden Alley, Old Royal Palace, St. George’s Basilica or the Southern Gardens will also be accessible today for free. On the other hand, due to capacity reasons, people will not be able to get to the Great South Tower of the St. Vitus Cathedral and the exhibition The Heart is a Temple.
Prague Castle regularly organizes an open day with the opening of representative rooms. However, during the previous mandate of President Miloš Zeman, widespread police checks, which made access to the Castle difficult for tourists and Prague residents for several years, caused criticism among other things. They ended under President Pavel. During the open day in March, thousands of visitors arrived at the Castle, for example, almost 16,000 people visited the cathedral.
