On Sunday, July 21, we welcome the second Full Moon in Capricorn this year. The first was on June 21 and came at the beginning of the Capricorn zodiac.
Now that we have the second full moon in Capricorn coming to the end of the zodiac, it brings us to the end of our story. Looking back at the end of June, was there anything that was weighing on your mind? Were there any insecurities or feelings of uneasiness? Was there anything that you should have taken responsibility for, but maybe you didn’t?
Whatever burden was brewing for you towards the end of June will now return to your world to be completed. Something will come to a climax and you will experience the end of the story you have been devoting yourself to. Endings can be painful, but they bring clarity and understanding. When something ends, there is usually no more discussion, just the knowledge that a chapter has closed. The sooner we accept the end, the easier it is to step forward into the new beginning that awaits us. Of course, this is never easy.
SECOND FULL MOON IN CAPRICORN
Under the second full moon in Capricorn, we seem to have become somehow more mature. We may have been through something difficult or challenging, but now we feel we are on the other side of it. We may have felt like the universe had thoroughly tested us, but now we can finally breathe. June’s Full Moon in Capricorn has called for some hard work and perhaps some hard lessons for us, but the doors seem to be closing, and with that comes peace and maybe even a sense of victory. We have completed our challenge, we have reached the top; we see the whole picture and with that, hopefully, a sense of wholeness and fulfillment prevails. We may have to wait for July’s full moon to bring us all its gifts before we feel that sense of fulfillment, but it seems the universe is giving us some well-deserved rewards.
FULL MOON AND ERIS
Under the July full moon, the warrior goddess Eris is strongly active, suggesting strong emotions or perhaps the need to stand up for ourselves. Eris is considered the sister of Mars, and while she has the same fiery spirit and can ignite emotions, she is also about returning to a state of harmony. Eris is sometimes called the goddess of discord and strife, but she does not create discord for fun. He notices where the problems are and brings them to the surface. He sees where the disharmony is hiding and has the power to awaken it so that we can once and for all correct and harmonize the situation. Eris doesn’t hide from trouble, and neither does our Full Moon in Capricorn, so we’re sure to feel the need to face whatever comes up. If we really want a clean finish, we need to address everything.
A SEAGOAT AS A WATERFALL
Capricorn is represented by the sea goat, a mythological animal that is half goat, half fish. A porpoise is different from other animals, but only when it accepts itself and works with its unique body can it receive its gifts. When a sea goat learns to master walking and swimming, when it leans into what it’s been given, that’s when it finds success. Then the sea goat can learn the magic of the mountains and the sea. Then the manatee can become like no other animal. Under this full moon, we can lean into the message of the sea goat. How can we step into our unique body and our unique set of circumstances and work our way through it? How can we become masters of our lives so that we too can realize the magic that awaits us?
The sea urchin will assist us in this mission until the December solstice, but the time to begin is under the July full moon. Time to start now.
REBIRTH IS ON THE WAY
The universe brings us these two full moons in Capricorn at a very auspicious time. Full moons usually bring up things that we need to release, and Capricorn usually brings up heavy things. Perhaps the universe is giving us permission to break free from all that is difficult. Maybe He wants us to lay down our heavy burdens and say we don’t carry them anymore. The Capricorn Full Moon can shuffle our burdens and pile them high on our shoulders, but there is also a release on offer. We must accept this relaxation. We have to allow ourselves to break free from it all.
The full moon is also connected to Pluto, the planet of death and rebirth. Pluto is only a few degrees away from this full moon, but it rests in Aquarius. This is known as an out-of-sign merger. Pluto’s presence offers the promise of something new rising from the ashes, but perhaps just out of reach. We may have to wait patiently to see what new rebirth is on the way. So free yourself from all that is heavy. Know that you deserve a lighter load. And keep in your heart that rebirth is on the way.
