UNITED STATES – You can’t change your nature. After the assassination attempt he narrowly escaped, Donald Trump and his team assured that his speech accepting the Republican nomination for the American presidency would be much more peaceful than his previous sermons. Failed.
His speech began with a detailed account of the attack he suffered. A moment of silence followed to pay tribute to the firefighter killed at the rally, Cory Comperatore. During those first minutes, Donald Trump followed the teleprompter.
He also predicted “an incredible victory” in November, promising “ the four most beautiful years in history » the United States. “ I’m running to be president of all of America, not half of America.”he added. “We’re going to win anyway.”
Trump pleads for unity… then tackles Democrats
The billionaire, described as a new man after the assassination attempt, even called for not “ criminalize opposition or demonize political disagreements.” A speech of appeasement… which did not last long, since a few seconds later he attacked the Democrats and in particular the influential Nancy Pelosi, whom he nicknamed « Nancy la folle ».
Donald Trump then returned to his usual ways, describing an apocalyptic world (“Our planet is on the brink of World War III”), denouncing the electoral fraud of which he was allegedly a victim in 2020, speaking of’« invasion » of criminal migrants, and criticizing the Democratic administration.
“Under the current administration, we are indeed a nation in decline.”hammered the former Republican president, denouncing the inflation of recent years in the United States and the international conflicts for which he accuses Joe Biden of being responsible.
Disinformation and Joe Biden
As reporters on the scene noticed, Donald Trump largely stepped away from the teleprompter to deliver the violent remarks he has repeated so often at his dozens of rallies. Yet the speech prepared by his teams was watered down to appeal to moderate voters or those unsure of who to vote for in November.
And the Republican candidate continues to talk about the “China virus”to criticize the media which is then booed by his supporters, to deny climate change by mocking the “Green New Deal” which he renamed the “Green New Scam”, and to multiply false information.
Donald Trump was also not supposed to say the name of his rival Joe Biden. But once again, the real estate mogul couldn’t help but attack the Democrat. “I will only use the term once”he promised once the name was out of his mouth. Another lie.
