Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky this evening cautiously received the information that the administration of the President of the United States of America (USA) Joseph Biden will allow Ukraine to use weapons provided by the USA for attacks deep into Russian territory.
Zelenski said this during his daily address, but did not directly confirm the news, reported Agence France-Presse.
Recalling the importance of “long-range missile capacity” for the military, Zelensky said that many media reported that Ukraine had been authorized to “take appropriate measures.”
“However, attacks are not carried out with words, such things are not announced. The rockets will speak for themselves,” Zelenski said.
The White House has not yet announced anything on the matter.
The US move, two months before President-elect Donald Trump takes office on January 20, follows months of demands by the Ukrainian president to allow the Ukrainian military to use US weapons to target Russian military targets far from the border.
The change in American policy followed Russia’s deployment of North Korean ground troops to supplement its own forces, which caused alarm in Washington and Kiev, Reuters reported on its website.
