Audio-Technica is recalling budget earphones because they can cause smoking

There appears to be something not quite right with Audio-Technica’s SQ1TW2 earbuds. The battery of the rechargeable earphones can overheat in some cases. The audio company says no one has been injured yet.

Earbuds with serial numbers 2322 to 2426 may be affected, Audio-Technica says. TechRadar. You can check whether your earphones have one of these serial numbers on the inside of the charging case. It cannot be ruled out that earphones with other serial numbers also cause problems.

There is something wrong with the case battery, which could cause it to overheat and smoke. People who have affected devices can contact Audio-Technica. You will then receive new earphones.

Earphones don’t seem to be for sale anymore

Tweakers writes that the earphones are currently no longer available for purchase at any webshop. The SQ1TW2 earbuds were released last summer and cost 59 euros. It is unknown whether Audio-Technica has stopped selling.
