AUR estimates 30,000 participants

The Alliance for the Union of Romanians claims that at least 30,000 Romanians are expected at the “Rally for Democracy”, which they are organizing on Sunday in the Capital.

According to a press release from the AUR, the rally is authorized and will start at 2:00 p.m., in University Square.

Afterwards, the demonstrators will march along the following route: University Square – Victoriei Square – Basarab Passage – Cotroceni Palace – Opera Square – Victoriei Street – Victoriei Square.

“We specify that the demonstration belongs to the Romanian people, AUR only providing the platform for those who want to express their dissatisfaction with the cancellation of the presidential elections and who request the resumption of the electoral process, starting with the second round”, the quoted statement states.

Over 500 Romanians living in the diaspora also announced their presence at Sunday’s rally, AUR claims.

In this context, AUR representatives send a series of recommendations for the participants in the protest:

* to follow the instructions of the organizers, who will wear white armbands, so that they can be easily noticed;
* not to respond to acts of violence and to address the law enforcement and those responsible for the protest if they observe instigators or if they are victims of any incident
* not to contradict the police or the journalists present at the rally;
* not to come with any other insignia or flag, apart from the Tricolor
* to limit as much as possible the disturbance of public peace, not to come to the rally with vuvuzelas or other similar materials.
