The man who shot two people in Austria near the Czech border on Monday is still on the run from the police. So far, the discovery of his car, which was discovered by a random pedestrian in the forest in the border region of Mühlviertel on Friday, has not helped her. This is reported by the Austrian media.

Police vehicles and a helicopter stand outside a building in Fraunschalg, Austria, Monday, Oct. 28, 2024, after a man killed two people in the area.
The police assume that 56-year-old Roland Drexler is still moving around the villages of Arnreit and Altenfelden. During the night, police searched the caravan and other empty buildings they believed could have been used as shelters. The police used special drones, helicopters and thermal cameras to search for the man at night.
Drexler is suspected of first shooting the mayor with a pistol in Altenfelden. When the wounded man then tried to run away, he killed him with a rifle shot to the head. Subsequently, he shot a former policeman and the head of a hunting association in Arnreit. He had a dispute with both men because they accused him of illegal hunting methods.
Due to the unsuccessful search so far, there is great tension in the region. Many believed that Drexler had long since fled and is, for example, in the Czech Republic. According to the Austrian media, the fact that his car was found so close to the crime scene worries the locals.
The investigators fear that other people, especially members of the hunting association, could be in danger. Five dozen people thus received police protection.
