Authorities report six dead and 12 wounded after a Russian airstrike in northeastern Ukraine

Kyiv – At least six people, including a child, were killed last night in a Russian drone attack on the border town of Hluchiv in the Sumy region in northeastern Ukraine. Another 12 people, including two children, were injured, Ukrainian authorities said.

“Late in the evening of November 18, the enemy attacked one of the hostels in Hluchiv. He directed two Shahed-type attack drones at the peaceful residents. As a result of the enemy attack, as of seven o’clock this morning, six people are known to be dead, including one child. 12 people were injured, of which two children” she stated regional administration on the Telegram social network.

Rescuers are on the scene, there may still be people under the rubble, the newspaper Ukrainska pravda wrote on its website. Russia has intensified its attacks on Ukraine in recent days. On Sunday, November 17, Russian troops hit a multi-story building in Sumy with a rocket, killing 12 people, including two children aged nine and 14. On Monday, November 18, a Russian Iskander missile hit Odesa, where according to the latest information, it killed ten people and injured another 55, the Unian agency added.

The Sumy region is adjacent to Russia’s Kursk region, in which Ukrainian troops have been fighting since the beginning of August. Today, Ukraine is defending itself for the thousandth day against Russian aggression, launched in February 2022 on the orders of President Vladimir Putin.
