We calculated the consumption and maintenance costs of the best-selling cars according to fuel types. While a gasoline car traveling 20 thousand km per year consumes an average of 3, diesel 2.57 and hybrid 2.14 TL per km; An electric car charged from home consumes 0.53 kuruş per km, and 1.63 TL from private charging points. Before the first maintenance of an electric car, a gasoline or diesel vehicle undergoes three maintenance operations, resulting in a maintenance cost of 55 thousand TL. The first maintenance of electric cars costs approximately 10 thousand TL.

In TURKEY, the cost of purchasing a middle-class car as well as covering annual fuel and maintenance costs is increasing day by day. While rising fuel prices, labor and parts costs increase the costs of internal combustion, that is, gasoline and diesel cars, hybrids and electric cars, whose market shares are rapidly increasing, maintain their advantage. However, the annual ‘5 thousand kilowatt-hour’ limit, which will be valid as of January 1, 2025, may approximately double the cost of those who charge their electric vehicles only from home.

According to our calculations, considering that a brand new car purchased for the first time will travel a total of 20 thousand km annually, Fiat Egea, one of the best-selling models among gasoline cars, consumes an average of 7 liters per 100 km, and its consumption per km is approximately 3 TL. finds it. With this calculation, Egea’s total annual fuel expense reaches 60 thousand 46 TL. Fuel consumption in diesel-powered cars is lower than gasoline cars, but maintenance costs are higher. For example, when a Renault Megane with a diesel engine consumes an average of 6 TL per 100 km, its consumption per km is 2.57 TL. Thus, the annual fuel expense of Megane owners who travel 20 thousand km per year is approximately 51 thousand 444 TL.

HYBRIT KM’DE 2.14 TL

Full hybrid cars, which increased their sales by 73.6 percent in the January-October period of 2024, stand out as one of the most logical solutions for urban areas. So much so that when the Toyota Corolla Hybrid, one of the best-selling cars in this class, consumes an average of 5 liters per 100 km, its fuel consumption per km drops to 2.14 TL. With this calculation, the amount that drivers will pay for Corolla Hybrid is approximately 42 thousand 890 TL.

53 KURS PER KM IS POSSIBLE BY CHARGING FROM HOME

Electric vehicles continue to be the most logical option among all fuel types, but the 5 thousand kWh limit in residence, which will be valid as of January 1, 2025, is expected to approximately double the annual expenses of those who charge their vehicles from home. Togg T10X, the best-selling electric car, consumes an average of 17 kWh per 100 km and has a consumption value of approximately 54 kuruş per km when charging from home.
