Automobile exports exceeded $5.5 billion in the first half of the year



Passenger cars worth 5 billion 643 million 758 thousand dollars were exported from Turkey to 80 countries in the first half of the year.

According to information compiled from Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters Association data, passenger cars were sold to 80 countries, autonomous regions and free zones in the January-June period.

Passenger car exports accounted for 31.9 percent of the automotive industry’s foreign sales of 17 billion 701 million 161 thousand dollars in this period.

Exports increased by 3.5 percent compared to the same period last year. Passenger car exports worth 5 billion 450 million 437 thousand dollars were made in the January-June 2023 period.

1/5 OF EXPORTS ARE TO FRANCE

When we look at the countries where passenger cars are sold, we see that France, Turkey’s second main market in the automotive sector, is in first place. Exports to this country were 1 billion 16 million 852 thousand dollars in the first half of the year.

The second country to which passenger cars were exported the most was recorded as Italy. In the January-June period of last year, passenger cars worth 534 million 938 thousand dollars were sold to Italy, and exports to Italy rose to 710 million 268 thousand dollars.

Exports to the United Kingdom, which ranked third, increased from $552 million 929 thousand to $692 million 194 thousand.

Spain ranked fourth in Turkey’s passenger car exports with 618 million 620 thousand dollars.

PASSENGER CAR EXPORTS TO GERMANY INCREASED BY 43 PERCENT

Passenger car exports to Germany, which ranks fifth and is the main market of the automotive sector, increased by 43.3 percent from 377 million 70 thousand dollars to 540 million 450 thousand dollars.

8 of the top 10 countries in passenger car exports were European Union countries.
