The Amis company is sinking into crisis. The automobile subcontractor, a subsidiary of the Sifcor group, has just been placed in receivership by the commercial court of Lyon (Rhône-Alpes). This automotive subcontractor manufactures gearbox sprockets, notably for the Stellantis group.
It has two sites, one in Montluçon (Allier) and another in Guéret (Creuse) which employ 350 and 42 people respectively. Judicial liquidation was avoided, but the site must quickly find a buyer. For FO, it is “of a lesser evil“, but employees remain worried about their future.
This decision is not a surprise. Amis has halved its turnover since 2019 and never really recovered after the Covid crisis. Now hit hard by the recession affecting the automotive sector, the company must find a new future. The CGT is relieved that the court has ordered a continuation of the activity, but “already fears a reduction in the number of employees in the near future given the company’s finances».
A new hearing is expected to take place at the Lyon court on December 23 to decide the future of the sites.
