Avaya gets a new CEO

Avaya announces that President and CEO Alan Masarek will leave the company at the end of the year and retire. Current Chairman of the Board Patrick Dennis will assume the role of CEO effective September 1, 2024.

Patrick Dennis brings over 30 years of professional experience. He currently serves as CEO of Venafi, a cybersecurity company in the midst of being acquired by CyberArk. “I am excited to lead Avaya through the next stage of its journey and build on the foundation laid by Alan and the leadership team,” said Dennis. “Avaya is operating from a stronger position and our strategy is resonating with our customers around the world, who can trust Avaya’s continuity and commitment to long-term success.”

Background: Avaya has repositioned itself over the past two years – in addition to recapitalization, this also includes a new organizational structure that has a major impact on Germany. Over the course of the year, the manufacturer will be handing over its existing medium-sized customers to selected partners. However, Avaya will continue to serve its top customers. For example, long-standing partner WTG will be taking over some of the work.

At the same time, the internal structures are also being restructured. Up until now, Avaya had its own backend systems, such as ERP and CRM solutions – this is also due to history. These were transferred to the global structures.

As a result, jobs were also cut, but there is no official figure for this. Rumour has it that 400 out of 700 jobs are affected. Some of the employees will probably find a job with Avaya partners – after all, qualified specialists are desperately needed.
