Award-winning Czech author Magdalena Placova tonight at Book Square

CZECH author Magdalena Placova will present her novel “Life after Kafka” tonight at 10 p.m. at the ninth International Book Fair, on Belavista Square, in Herceg Novi.

In addition to her, the translator Tihana Hamović, as well as Dejan Matić, will address the audience on behalf of the publisher. The book about Kafka’s fiancee Felice Bauer was published by the Belgrade publishing houses “Treći trg” and “Srebrno drvo”.

Placova, as she confirmed in an interview for “Novosti” during her visit to Belgrade in May, built the novel on the basis of conversations in New York with Felice’s son Henry, grandson Leo and great-grandson Joel, as well as on the basis of Kafka’s preserved letters. Her goal was to reveal to the readers what Felice Bauer was really like, completely neglected in history, and why she sold Kafka’s letters.
