The Azores Budget for 2025 was approved today in the final global vote in the regional parliament, with votes in favor from PSD, CDS-PP, PPM and Chega, votes against from PS, BE, IL and PAN.
The document was approved by a majority, with 22 votes in favor from the PSD, five from Chega, two from the CDS-PP and one from the PPM and 22 votes against from the PS, one from the BE, one from the IL and one from the PAN.
In the general vote, the document was also approved by a majority, with 22 votes in favor from the PSD, five from Chega, two from the CDS-PP and one from the PPM, votes against from BE (one), IL (one) and PAN ( one) and 22 abstentions from the PS.
The vote on the Azorean executive’s Budget for next year took place today in the plenary of the Legislative Assembly, in Horta, Faial island, after three days of discussion.
The Azores Budget proposal for 2025, which defines the strategic lines of the PSD/CDS-PP/PPM coalition executive for next year, amounts to 1,913 million euros, of which around 819 million are allocated to investments foreseen in the Plan .
The Azores parliament is made up of 57 deputies, 23 from the PSD bench, another 23 from the PS, five from Chega, two from the CDS-PP, one from the IL, one from the PAN, one from the BE and one from the PPM.
The Government of the Azores following the February 4th legislature governs the region without an absolute majority in the Azorean parliament and, therefore, needs the support of some parties with parliamentary seats to approve its proposals.
In the February vote, PSD, CDS-PP and PPM elected 26 deputies, three short of an absolute majority. The PS is the second force in the archipelago, with 23 mandates, followed by Chega, with five. BE, IL and PAN elected one regional deputy each, completing the 57 elected.
