FCSB received a tough news from the Czechs, before the first leg of the “double” with Sparta Prague, in the 3rd round of the Champions League preliminaries.

The champion of Romania will meet the champion of the Czech Republic, after passing Maccabi Tel-Aviv, thanks to the goal scored by Benjamin Baeten.

FCSB receives some hard news ahead of the match against Sparta Prague

A few days before of the round match between FCSB and Sparta Prague, from the preliminaries of the Champions League, the Czech press released a news that the team coached by Elias Charalambous did not expect. More precisely, the attacking midfielder of the Czech champion, Kaan Kairinen, will be part of the Prague squad for the match at “Generali Arena”. This would be one of the best players in Lars Friis’ squad.

The attacking midfielder was injured in the derby with Slavia Prague in May, and his comeback is a miraculous one. The Finn broke his leg, which is why doctors predicted that he could return to the field six months away from the time of the incident.

“Kairinen has tricked time. How the indispensable Finn managed to return to Sparta’s first 11 in record time. No one expected Kairinen’s comeback to happen so quickly.

An excellent recovery and a professional approach of the medical staff were behind what we can describe, without hesitation, as a miracle”, announced the Czech journalists from the publication iPortal24.

  • In the previous season, Kaan Kairinen played in 44 games in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing 10 assists.
  • For the first representative of Finland, the attacking midfielder collected 17 selections, but did not contribute to any success of his country.
  • Kaan Kairinen’s market share is four million euros, according to Transfer market.

Who can FCSB face if they knock out Sparta Prague

After getting past Virtus, 10-1 overall, and Maccabi Tel-Aviv, 2-1 overall, FCSB is preparing for the fiery “double” with Sparta Prague. The Romanian champion is thinking of qualifying, and if Elias Charalambous’ students succeed to pass the Czech championthey will meet one of the following formations:

  • Dinamo Zagreb (Croatia), directly qualified for the play-offs.
  • Red Star Belgrade (Serbia), directly qualified for the play-offs.
  • PAOK Thessaloniki (Greece) / Malmo (Sweden), in the third preliminary round.
  • Young Boys Bern (Switzerland), directly qualified for the play-offs.
  • Ferencvaros (Hungary)/ FC Midtjylland (Denmark) in the third preliminary round.

If FCSB gives in, the team sponsored by Gigi Becali will go to the Europa League play-off. However, even in the darkest scenario, the “red-blues” cannot miss qualification in the groups of a European competition.
