Slovak football representative Stanislav Lobotka will have more competition in the central formation of the Italian SSC Napoli.
According to The Athletic, the Italian club have agreed a transfer fee with Manchester United for Scotland international Scott McTominay. The transfer depends only on the agreement between the player and Napoli regarding salary conditions.
Manchester United should earn 30 million euros from the sale of their protege and receive a share of any further sales.
McTominay is under contract at Old Trafford until 2025 and United have an option to extend it by a further 12 months, so the 27-year-old has yet to finalize negotiations over his departure.
As McTominay is a graduate of Manchester United’s academy, his sale would represent a net gain for the club, making the move important for the English side to comply with Premier League and UEFA financial rules.
Coach Erik ten Haga’s team has already prepared a replacement in the form of 23-year-old Uruguayan representative Manuel Ugarte from Paris St. Germain.
Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has been leading negotiations for the Scot’s arrival in London and Manchester in recent weeks.
In 2023/24, McTominay recorded his best goalscoring season of his career, netting ten times in 43 games.
