Bad weather “Bora” starts today Saturday to pound the country and the “cold lake” phenomenon will cause heavy rains and storms, snow and gale force winds.
According to the EMY emergency bulletin, the barometric low in the Ionian moving slowly to the east will bring bad weather “Bora” to our country, which brings significant rains and storms that will be strong in places until Monday (02/12/2024) .

At the same time, strong and locally stormy winds will prevail and heavy snowfall will occur in the mountains of Macedonia and Epirus.

It is pointed out that in central Macedonia (and mainly in the prefectures of Halkidiki, Thessaloniki, Pieria and Imathia) the phenomena from the afternoon of Saturday (30-11-24) until the afternoon of Sunday (1-12-24) will be particularly intense
b. in Ionia, Epirus and western Sterea from late Friday evening (11-29-24) and intermittently until early Saturday evening (11-30-24)
c. in the western and southern Peloponnese on Saturday (30-11-24) from the early hours of the morning until the evening

In his forecast, meteorologist Sakis Arnautoglou emphasizes that “we will have showers and storms in the west and on Saturday morning they will extend both to the north and to the east. From noon onwards in Attica the phenomena will intensify, as in Thessaloniki, but also in western Greece. In the evening, we will have even more intense phenomena in Thessaloniki and Halkidiki, while snow will fall on the NW borders of our country.
The winds need attention and especially from Saturday night (30/11/2024) they will become strong up to 10 Beaufort in the wider area of Thessaloniki. But also in the early hours of Sunday (01/12/2024) the gusts of NE winds will be impressive, even exceeding 110 km. in northern Greece.
The temperature at noon will reach 7 to 12 in the north, 19 in the center and 18 in the south. In the west from 12 to 14 degrees and in the east from 17 to 18 degrees.
On Sunday (01/12/2024) we will have a lot of rain even up to the eastern islands, while we will also have strong storms in Thessaloniki. Snow will fall from 800 and 1200 meters in the central mountain areas.
Until the dawn of Monday (02/12/2024) the phenomena will be transferred from Volos and further south, while from Tuesday the phenomena will weaken.
