Baekchae Kimchi Jjigae has been growing steadily for the past 11 years by pursuing a ‘small but strong store’ for each franchise.

According to the company, more than 70% of the stores have been in operation for more than three years. This is because they specialize in kimchi stew, a menu that everyone likes regardless of preference, and strategically located stores in commercial districts where steady consumption is expected rather than busy commercial districts where unnecessary competition occurs and trends do not follow, allowing for stable operation.

Through this announcement, Baekchae Kimchi Jjigae announced that its sales and number of stores have increased significantly compared to the same period last year. Baekchae Kimchi Jjigae’s total franchise sales in the second quarter of 2024 recorded KRW 12.6 billion, up 13% year-on-year, and its total sales in the first half of the year recorded KRW 25.1 billion, up 15%. Baekchae Kimchi Jjigae, which opened its 280th store in the second quarter of 2024, opened 32 new stores compared to the previous year and expects to exceed 300 stores within the year through continuous franchise contracts.

An official evaluated the company’s continued growth as “a result of focusing on the essential aspects of taste, such as directly producing and distributing kimchi made from domestic cabbage and Korean pork branded meat to make delicious kimchi stew, as we are a kimchi stew specialty brand.”

He also added, “The brand-level promotional activities that have been ongoing since the second half of last year also seem to have been effective,” and “Baekchae Kimchi Jjigae has consistently exposed its strengths through numerous TV programs and YouTube videos, drawing responses from consumers, and as a result, nationwide sales have also increased.”

Kim Ji-hwan, the general manager of Baekchae Kimchi Jjigae, said, “I am so happy and proud that we can continue to announce the growth of Baekchae Kimchi Jjigae with every quarterly earnings announcement, even at a time when many restaurant brands are experiencing increasing uncertainty about growth due to the long-term economic recession.” He added, “We will always do our best to ensure that Baekchae Kimchi Jjigae comes to mind whenever people think of the best kimchi jjigae, anywhere in the country.”
