The authors are approaching the new patch, but before that they emphasize the success Baldur’s Gate 3especially praise the modding community since the release of mod tools. Since September, over 3,000 mods have been created and over 70 million downloads. From the news, the authors introduce upcoming features such as cross-play, photo mode and 12 new subclasses for existing characters.
More precisely, the update will bring:
Cross-play
The cross-play function will allow players on different platforms (PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox, Mac) to play together in multiplayer. This means you can invite friends to play regardless of what platform they’re on, and you can share your progress with them across systems. This move is a significant benefit to the social aspect of the game and will make it easier for different groups of players to interact.
New subclasses
In the upcoming update, 12 new subclasses will be added, one for each existing class in the game. Each subclass will bring new game mechanics, abilities, animations and dialogues, which will further enrich the gaming experience.
- Bard – College of Glamour: A new Bard subclass that focuses on control and healing. He has abilities such as Mantle of Inspiration, which will grant temporary lives for allies, and Mantle of Majesty, which will allow to control enemies.
- Barbarian – Path of Giants: Giant’s Path Barbarian brings strength and size, which increases its damage on throw and improves carrying capacity.
- Cleric – Death Domain: A subclass that focuses on necrotic magic and can perform dark rituals such as exploding corpses.
- Druid – Circle of Stars: The druid focuses on astrology and can transform into various star forms, each with different abilities.
- Paladin – Oath of the Crown: A paladin focused on maintaining law and order, offering new abilities like Righteous Clarity and Divine Allegiance.
- Fighter – Arcane Archer: A fusion of magic and archery that allows for the use of magical arrows and abilities such as banishing enemies to the Feywild.
- Monk – Drunken Master: A Monk who gets drunk from his own inventory to refresh himself and use his drunken abilities to enhance combat.
- Ranger – Swarmkeeper: A Ranger who can control various deadly swarms (jellyfish, moths, bees) to aid him in battle and even provide teleportation capabilities.
- Rogue – Swashbuckler: Rogue subclass focused on pirate actions, such as throwing sand in enemies’ eyes or weapon tricks.
- Sorcerer – Shadow Magic: A Dark Magic focused Sorcerer who uses Superior Darkvision and the Shadow Walk ability to move in the dark.
- Warlock – Hexblade: A Warlock who makes a deal with an entity from the Shadowfell, gaining magical weapons and the ability to curse enemies.
- Wizard – Bladesinging: A Wizard who combines magic with swordsmanship, gaining bonuses to speed, agility, and increased combat performance.
Photo Regime
Photo mode will bring players the opportunity to capture perfect images from the game. It will allow setting the angle of view, changing the positions of the characters, setting the composition and focusing the camera on various details. Players will be able to edit photos using various effects such as adjusting depth of field, exposure, colors and add various filters. In addition, they will be able to add stickers, effects and choose different positions and expressions of the characters.
