Bangladesh bowlers’ record in Chennai Test on a day of disappointment for the batters

Bangladesh, who whitewashed Pakistan on their soil, are now playing against India. The first Test of the two-match Test series is being played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Chipok is a stadium built from the palace grounds. This stadium was built in 1916. Later it was renamed as M Chidambaram Stadium. Bangladesh rewrote history today in this third oldest stadium in India. This record of the bowlers on a day of terrible failure by the batsmen is telling.

Bangladesh started the 2nd day like the 1st day in the Chennai Test. Taskin, who did not see any wicket the day before, returned Ravindra Jadeja, Akash Deep and Ravichandran Ashwin one by one. The pacers of Bangladesh set the chip record after Taskin took three wickets.

Pacers have never taken more than 7 wickets in one innings in the 108-year history of the Chennai field. Bangladesh pacers took 5 wickets on the first day yesterday. Hasan Mahmood’s four wickets were accompanied by Nahid Rana’s 1 wicket.

And at the beginning of the second day, along with Taskin’s 3 wickets, Hasan Mahmud completed the fifer. That’s why the pacers of Bangladesh made the feat of taking the most (9 wickets) in one innings in Test history at Chipok Stadium.

Earlier in South Africa in 2008 and 2013 tour, Australian pacers took 7 wickets at this ground. The West Indies pacers came on tour in 2002 and picked up 6 wickets.

However, 3 Indian pacers Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj got a total of 8 wickets in Bangladesh’s innings. The remaining 2 wickets went to spinner Ravindra Jadeja. So India has to be second in the record books.
