As in a sprint, Francesco Banjaja started the race perfectly and immediately took the lead. Despite the fact that he started the week from the fifth position, Jorge Martin did not waste time and already in the first lap made his way to the second place. On that way, he also passed Maverik Vinjales.
Vinjales was losing pace behind the Ducati bikes, and in turn 5 of the second lap Mark Marques also passed him.
In the third lap, Banjaja set the fastest lap of the race, before Martin and Fabio Di Đanantonio were even faster.
At the start of the fourth lap, Marko Beceki crashed, but managed to get back on his GP23. Martin managed to drive the new fastest lap, “taking off” two tenths of a second from Banjaja’s lead.
However, the winner of Saturday’s sprint responded in his own way, increasing his lead by three tenths of a second in the fifth lap.
Di Đanantonio kept up with Banjaya and Martin, overtaking Vinjales and then Marco Marques.
Enea Bastianini regained his form later in the race, but managed to join the fight for third place, which was still held by Di Gianantonio with 11 laps to go.
And while the rain threatened at the end of the race, Bastianini continued his attack and managed to pass Marco Marquez and reach the fourth place. Then he started on Viñales, who lost fourth place to Marquez due to a mistake in the last lap.
The victory went to Banjaja, who crossed the finish line with more than three seconds advantage over Martin. Bastianini was also on the podium with them.
After the race, Marques received a penalty of 16 seconds due to low tire pressure, so he fell from fourth to tenth place.
