A bus with 60 passengers overturned between Tordera and Pineda de Mar, in Barcelona, at the entrance to a tunnel. At least two people were trapped inside the vehicle and are in serious condition.
According to the first indications from the authorities, there are still at least 36 minor injuries.
This is a vehicle that was transporting workers of the Inditex textile groupto which the Zara chain of stores belongs, for example, and the victims were heading to the group’s logistics center, which is located nearby.
The bus that was traveling on the C-32 motorway skidded and, according to images circulating on social media, remained in a vertical directionattached to the top of a tunnel entrance. Traffic in the area came to a complete standstill.
“La Vanguardia” cites witnesses who claim that they heard an explosion at the scene. There are reports of several minor injuries. There are around 50 ambulances at the scene.
Some of minor injuries were taken to hospital.
Sources from the Catalan Traffic Service (SCT) told EFE that the accident occurred at 9:00 am and the Generalitat Fire Department activated a vast rescue device.
