In the 12th round of the Euroleague, Partizan welcomed the Greek Olympiakos on its home field in the packed Belgrade Arena, and the home team won – 78:70 (16:25, 22:11, 12:21, 28:13).
After his team’s defeat, Greek expert Jorgo Barcokas congratulated the ‘black and white’:
“First of all, I congratulate Partizan, they played a great 40 minutes and we took advantage of some problems at the beginning of the game because we rushed and had a 7-point lead in the first quarter. We had to have a better shot selection and guard the ball, and we had problems with the defenders and we didn’t have Wright or Vezenkov, and Fournier was sick and that’s no excuse. We controlled the game, the speed, and for 40 minutes we had no consistency.” – he said Barcokas and then added:
“We are not invincible, we had injury problems, the series of victories is behind us, we also had problems with fouls, takeovers and the like. We have to work and see in the end. Everyone here understands basketball. In a match with so much physicality, everything depends on two or three decisions and not allowing the opponent to take easy shots, and Partizan took advantage of all that. They had second chances after off jumps. It’s basketball, a sport of mistakes, and if you make mistakes… The crowd gave the wind at their backs and they fought for 40 minutes.” – concluded the experienced expert.
