Bastianini won at Misano after a fierce finish

Eneja Bastianini took Ducati’s 100th MotoGP victory in controversial circumstances after aggressively overtaking Jorge Martin on the final lap of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, while Francesco Banjaya ended his performance at Mizano with a crash.

Martin led for a large part of the 27-lap racebut faced intense pressure from Bastianini in the closing laps as the factory Ducati rider looked for a way to get into the lead.

In the last lap, there was contact when Bastianini crashed into Martin, and the Spaniard was forced off the track.

In the end, Bastianini crossed the finish line with a lead of 5.002 seconds over Martin.

Martin’s championship lead extended to 24 points after pole position winner and Saturday’s sprint winner Francesco Banjaya crashed on lap 21 as he tried to claw back the lead duo.

Bastianini’s victory secured Ducati the manufacturer’s title.

Martin grabbed the lead from the start, but went too wide at Turn 2, allowing Banjaya to retake the lead, with Bastianini in third.

Martin tried to take the lead at Turn 4 on the third lap, but was unsuccessful.

In the fourth round, however, Martin succeeded and ensured that Banjaja could not respond.

The Spaniard quickly broke away from Banjaya, who lost second place to team-mate Bastianini on lap five, as the world champion struggled for pace.

At one stage, Banjaja was more than two seconds behind the leading two as the gap between Martin and Bastianini fluctuated.

But somewhere in the middle of the race, Banja’s pace started to improve again and he slowly began to approach Martin and Bastianini.

However, his march ended on lap 21, when he locked up his front wheel under braking at Turn 8 and crashed.

In contention for the win, Martin led Bastianini across the line to start the final lap, and the latter went aggressive into Turn 4.

The pair made contact and Martin was under heavy pressure as Bastianini moved into a comfortable lead to take his second win of the season.

The accident for Banjaya promoted Marco Marques to third placewhile Marko Beceki was fourth after gambling with a soft rear tire.

Franco Morbidelli was fifth on the sister Pramac Ducati, and Aprilia’s Maverick Viñales was sixth ahead of Fabio Quartararo.

Aleš Espargaro won eighth place, while Alex Marques and Miguel Oliveira rounded out the top 10.

Đoan Mir was the best Honda driver, in 11th place.

The championship continues in seven days, with a race in Indonesia.
