Bastianini’s dream weekend ended with a victory

Making another great start, Francesco Banjaja took the lead straight away, ahead of Jorge Martin and Eneo Bastianini.

Martin was quickly pushed back to fourth before contact with Ales Espargara at Turn 5 allowed Marc Marquez to pass him.

At the back, Migel Oliveira and Raul Fernandes of the Trackhouse team collided, resulting in the end of the race for both.

Struggling during the early stages, Bastianini made a mistake that gave Martin second place, before Espargaro moved into position 3 at the start of the third lap.

And while Martin began to close in on Banjaya, Bastianini recovered from a drop in pace, managing to hold off Marco Marquez.

The Italian then began to approach the leading trio, while Martin was two tenths of a second from the leader Banjaya.

As the top five began to break away, Alex Marquez overtook Fabio Di Gianantoni, sparking an intense battle through several corners.

Banjaya then accelerated to the maximum as Espargaro, Bastianini and Marc Marquez struggled to keep up, but not Martin who got even closer to the reigning world champion.

Laps 11 and 12 proved crucial for the race as Bastianini passed Espargaro.

Moments later, Martin raced past Banjaja for the lead.

Martin almost gave the lead back to Banjaya with a mistake in turn 3, however, he immediately got back into his rhythm. At the same time, Bastianini passed Banjaja, and there were seven laps left until the end of the race.

As Bastianini slowly closed in on Martin, Marquez took fourth from Espargaro on lap 17.

Having managed to hold off Bastianini, Martin had a bad corner exit on the penultimate lap, allowing Bastianini to take the lead.

In a great final lap and a half, Bastianini immediately took out Martin, while Banjaya narrowly held off Marco Marquez for third place.

That’s how Bastianini completed his dream weekend, after triumphed in the sprint on Saturday.
