Be careful if you see paper or cardboard on your car window

Thieves are constantly developing new techniques to perfect their specialty. The latest example comes from Portugal, and it is a quick and efficient way of stealing. As he states ElPais, thieves put paper, cardboard or a simple sheet on the rear window of a parked car to block the driver’s view from behind.

When the driver wants to reverse, his view is blocked, and the driver then pulls the handbrake and gets out of the car to check what is on the rear window. Of course, thieves count on drivers not turning off the car but leaving the key in the cabin. At that moment, thieves use the opportunity to enter the car and simply steal it, he says Jutarnji.hr.

Everything happens very quickly and in a few seconds the victim of this robbery is left without a vehicle and without all the things that are understood to have been left in the car.

One of the biggest dangers of the new robbery technique discovered in Portugal is that the owner of the vehicle exposes himself to the risk of being run over or hit by the vehicle (when the thieves get into the car and start to run away). That is why it is always advisable to turn off the car engine before leaving it and to take the key with you.

So, if you spot an object blocking your rear view, be careful because thieves only have a few seconds to steal your car.
