Turn your phone into a quality webcam

Perhaps the most interesting feature is the ability to turn your Android smartphone into a webcam for video calls. It’s true that Android 14 already allows this, but Android 15 takes this feature up a notch. Google has improved it by introducing a new high-quality mode over a cable connection. However, its small negative is greater overheating of the device. To activate this feature, follow these steps:

  1. Connect your smartphone to your laptop or computer using a cable connection.
  2. Tap the USB notification in the notification bar.
  3. Select an option Use USB for webcam.
  4. By tapping the button HQ in the upper left corner, turn on the high-quality webcam mode.

Hide your device name on Wi-Fi networks

Android 15 brings several security features, including a lesser-known one that hides your device’s name on Wi-Fi networks. This is especially useful when connecting to public Wi-Fi in coffee shops, airports, etc. To activate these privacy settings, follow these steps:

  1. Go to section Settings.
  2. Select Network and Internet and then tap on Internet.
  3. Tap the gear icon next to the connected network.
  4. Select an item Privacy
  5. Turn off the switch Submit device name.
  6. Optionally, switch to the option Use a randomized MAC address for better privacy on this network.

Better display visibility with better color contrast

Everyone has probably already noticed that the popular dark mode of the system can make its elements difficult to see. To solve this problem, there is an option to adjust the contrast, but until now it was hidden deep in the settings. However, it is already easily available in Android 15. If you want to adjust the contrast settings, follow these steps:

  1. Go to section Settings.
  2. Select an item Display and touch.
  3. Tap the item Color contrast.
  4. Choose the contrast level that suits you best.

Set Bluetooth to automatically turn on again

So far, Bluetooth switching on Android has worked as expected. However, Android 15 changed this behavior. Now when you turn off Bluetooth, it automatically turns on the next day, which is handy if you’re using the Android Auto platform, for example. If you prefer more control over when Bluetooth reactivates, you can adjust this setting:

  1. Go to section Settings.
  2. Select an item Connected devices.
  3. Tap on Connection preferences.
  4. Select Bluetooth.
  5. Turn off the switch Automatically turn on tomorrow.

View home controls while charging or docked

Most people have a default screen saver on when charging, such as Always On Display with clock and notifications. However, another hidden feature in Android 15 is the Home Control screen saver mode. You can use this mode to control smart home devices when the device is docked or charging. To set it up, follow these steps:

  1. Go to section Settings and select an item Display and touch.
  2. Tap the item Screen saver.
  3. Turn on the option Use a screen saver and then select an item Household management.
  4. When you dock or charge your device, it displays supported smart home controls

Pin apps and pair apps on large displays

Most Android devices have long offered a split-screen mode for multitasking, Android 15 improves this feature by saving app pairs. Thanks to it, you can quickly launch two popular and frequently used applications in split-screen mode with one tap. To save app pairs, follow these steps:

  1. Open two apps in split-screen mode by tapping an app icon and selecting an item Split screen.
  2. Open the recent apps menu and tap the app icons.
  3. Select an option Save a few apps.
  4. This creates a shortcut on your home screen that lets you launch both apps in split-screen mode next time with just a single tap.
