Belgrade enters the New Year – polluted (PHOTO)
The air in the territory of Belgrade on this, the last morning of 2024, is polluted, so that the Serbian capital enters the New Year as one of the most polluted cities in the world.
As reported by the city website Beoeko, the PM 2.5 particle pollution index is 77.9 micrograms per cubic meter (μg/m3), which is considered polluted air, while the PM 10 particle pollution index is 83.8 μg/m3, which is considered acceptable. on that site.
In Lazarevac, Jajinci, Veliki Crljeni and Sopot, the air is highly polluted, while it is polluted at measuring stations in most of the territory of Belgrade.

According to data from the Air Visual (IQAir) website, this morning Belgrade is the 25th most polluted city in the world, with a pollution index of 127, which according to the website’s qualification is considered dangerous for sensitive groups of citizens.
The site’s recommendations are to reduce outdoor activities, close windows, use air purifiers, and for sensitive groups to wear masks outside.
The PM 2.5 particle pollution index, as stated by that site, is almost 10 times higher than the recommended values of the World Health Organization.
Of the cities in the region, Zagreb, Sarajevo and Skopje are more polluted than Belgrade, while Pristina and Ljubljana are also close…
Among the first 30 most polluted cities, Asian metropolises dominate, and when it comes to Europe, except for the Italian cities of Rome and Milan, all the others are in our environment.
