Belkin recalls BoostCharge Pro Power Bank for Apple Watch: fire risk!

Belkin has announced the official recall of the BoostCharge Pro Fast Wireless Charger for Apple Watch + Power Bank 10K (model BPD005) due to a manufacturing defect that could cause the battery to overheat, posing a fire risk to consumers. The company offers a full refund to anyone who purchased the product.

In its official notice, Belkin invites all customers to stop using the device immediatelyhighlighting potential security risks:

If you have purchased the Belkin BoostCharge Pro Fast Wireless Charger for Apple Watch + Power Bank 10K, model BPD005, it is important to immediately discontinue use, unplug it from any power source or product, and contact us for further instructions. Store your BPD005 in a safe, dry place away from flammable materials. Do not throw the power bank in the garbage or recycling.

The company has posted more details and refund instructions on its official site.

Despite the advanced features of the product, the overheating problem made it necessary to withdraw it from the market.

It is not the first time that Belkin has found itself having to face a similar situation: already in 2021 another wireless charger had been recalled due to a similar risk.
