Benfica closes season with losses of over 31 million – Sports

After the 2022/23 financial year, the sports limited company (SAD) of Benfica managed to return to profits, in the fiscal year 2023/24, ending on June 30, the eagles return to the red. According to the report and accounts sent this Sunday to the Securities Market Commission (CMVM), Benfica had losses of 31.360 million euros.

The Luz club thus recorded a decrease of 35.6 million euros in net income compared to the same period last year. Benfica says that this result was “influenced by the reduction in operating income (excluding athlete rights transactions) and by the results from athlete rights transactions”.

Operating income, excluding athlete rights transactions, reached os 179 millions of
euros, registering onea reduction of 8,6% face athe homologous period. This evolution is explained, says the eagles’ SAD, “by the decrease of the recipes no segment MTV media, as a result ofa reduction in income coming froms de prizes distributed by UEFA”.

The result from athlete rights transactions amounted to 58.4 million euros, reflecting a
decrease of 8.3% compared to the same period last year. “It should be noted that the results with
athlete rights transactions were greatly influenced by the fact that no
operation until the end of the financial year, partly as a result of the European Championship delaying activity in the transfer market by thousands of euros. If the main transactions involving player rights that took place at the start of the 2024/25 season had been carried out at the end of the 2023/24 financial year, Benfica SAD would have obtained a positive result in this period”, highlight the reds.

The asset exceeds os 565,2 million euros, which means an increase of 7,4 million euros face
to the final do homologous period, corresponding to the nono consecutive exercise in which the value of the asset
grow up.

Operating expenses excluding athlete rights amount to 207.3 million euros,
which represents a growth of 0.5% compared to the value of 206.4 million euros presented
no homologous period.
