Bestemyanova urged Russians to go to the Olympics, despite the strict admission criteria

Olympic champion in ice dancing Natalya Bestemyanova spoke about the decision of the International Skating Union (ISU) regarding the admission of Russians to the 2026 Olympic Games.

“I am very glad that our skaters will participate in the selection. Of course, it’s very sad that it’s in a neutral status. In any case, you need to be at the Olympics. We must not miss it, otherwise we will be completely left without the Olympic movement,” Bestemyanova quotes NEWS.ru.

On December 20, it became known that the ISU allowed Russians to participate in Olympic qualifications in a neutral status, but only in individual disciplines.

One participant or one couple in each event will be able to compete in the tournament. The qualifying competition will be held in Beijing from September 17 to 21, 2025.

Earlier, Anton Sikharulidze spoke about the principles for selecting skaters who will compete in the Olympic Games qualifications.
