The march of progress has decided this: the young people of today and tomorrow will grow up, work, in short, live alongside AI. But what do the first interested parties say? 20 Minutes and the polling institute OpinionWay undertook to find out by conducting two surveys, the first on the relationship which is beginning to form between young people and artificial intelligence, a second on their perception of the impact (only 33% consider themselves informed of the impact environment of AI) of a technology that reaches out to them to help them complete their homework, overcome boredom, or increase their productivity. We reveal the results to you in this special episode of our sound fiction “Cat G Planté: the price of AI”.

“At least conversational AI never lets you down”

What comes out of this, quickly? First, that we didn’t fall off our chairs when we learned that 18-30 year olds are rather heavy users of AI (80% have already used it, 50% use it regularly). But as soon as the questionnaire begins to dig into the views of young people from France and Navarre on ChatGPT and company, there is food to grind. A threat for some, a tool for others, it is also the same for seeing in the conversational algorithm a potential friend (and more if there are affinities). More than one in three believe (35%) that avatars could become one of the main tools to fight against isolation and loneliness and 30% also agree with the statement “At least, AI conversational skills never let us down unlike humans.” In any case, we will not let the subject drop. Happy listening!
