Biden guarantees that no one will “turn back the clock” on the “clean energy revolution”

US President Joe Biden said this Sunday, in the Amazon, that “no one can turn back the clock” on the “clean energy revolution” in the United States, in a message addressed to his successor, President-elect Donald Trump.

“I leave office in January. I will leave my successor and my country a solid foundation on which to build, if they choose to do so,” said Joe Biden, in a statement in Manaus, Brazil, in the heart of the rainforest.

“Some will perhaps try to deny or delay the clean energy revolution that is underway in America. But no one, no one can turn back the clock”, he stressed.

The Democrat today became the first sitting president of the United States to travel to the Amazon, a historic visit full of symbolism, a few months before Republican Donald Trump’s return to the White House.

The Republican promised during his presidential campaign “to drill at all costs (the territory, to extract as much oil as possible)” and cast doubt on the reality of climate change.

Trump also warned that he intends to withdraw the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement. He had already done this in his first term (2017-2021), but Joe Biden reversed this decision and made combating climate change an important cause of his presidency.

“The fight to protect our planet is literally a fight for humanity, for generations to come — perhaps the only existential threat to all nations and all humanity,” insisted the outgoing US President.
