Biden says they are working to ‘prevent a bigger war’ in the Middle East

US President Biden answered questions from members of the press about current issues in his home state of Delaware.

Asked if he was concerned about the escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, Biden said: “Yes, I am. We are doing everything we can to prevent a larger war from breaking out in the region. We are still working on that.”

Israeli army airstrike on Beirut

In an airstrike carried out by the Israeli army south of Beirut on September 20, 45 people, including 3 children and 7 women, lost their lives. Hezbollah announced that 15 of its members, including senior military commander Ibrahim Akil, were killed in the attack.

The international community is warning that a regional war could break out in the face of Israel’s repeated attacks.

Israel lists the safe return to their homes of its citizens evacuated from the northern regions along the Lebanese border due to the conflict as one of the “goals of the war.” Lebanon’s Hezbollah, on the other hand, says the conflict in the region will only end if Israel’s attacks on Gaza stop.
