Former president Traian Băsescu said, on Sunday evening, July 21, that the US president, Joe Biden, after withdrawing from the electoral race, still has one more move to make to create maximum conditions for vice president Kamala Harris in the dispute with Donald Trump, namely to withdraw from the position of president.

Traian Băsescu was asked, Sunday evening, on Digi 24, if Joe Biden did not withdraw too late from the electoral race.

“It’s never too late in politics, you know? And it’s good that once the withdrawal was announced, the replacement, Kamala Harris, who is vice president in office, was also announced, which creates an ascendancy for her in the dispute with Trump”, said Băsescu.

He was asked what made Biden decide not to run.

“Nothing but the conclusion that he probably reached primarily in the family, that he no longer has a chance to beat Trump as a result of the public blunders he made,” explained Traian Băsescu.

Asked if Joe Biden’s blunders could still be fixed, the former president answered: “No, on the contrary. Remember that it was as if it was a message that he would fix the blunders after the dispute he had with Trump live, but instead of reducing the impact of the blunders in the direct dispute, it accentuated them. There have been other and other unfortunate events like Zelenski being confused with Putin, unforgivable errors, after all of us who support him would have hoped that he would straighten things out from the starting point, i.e. the debate with Trump”.

Băsescu was also asked if Vice President Kamala Harris would be easier to defeat by Donald Trump than Joe Biden would have been.

“No, surely the victory would have been with Joe Biden. But Biden has one more move and now it remains to be seen whether he will carry it through, that is, to create maximum conditions for Kamala Harris in the dispute with Trump, namely to withdraw from the position of president, and for Kamala Harris to be in the dispute with Trump from the position of president of the United States”, Băsescu explained.
