“Big Hong” is delighted that “Am Nakhon Pathom” won the World Pool Hayball Championship, indicating that it is gaining popularity. China is moving forward to court Thailand to organize the competition.

“Big Hong” Mr. Sunthorn Jarumon, President of the Billiards Association of Thailand, along with Mr. Ekkasit Kunanantakul, Vice President of the Billiards Association, Mr. Apiwich Sinsuwannamethee, Executive Committee of the Association, went to welcome “Am Nakhon Pathom” Waratthanan Supakritthanes, the female cue player who won the 2024 Pool Hayball World Championship in Slovenia, at Suvarnabhumi Airport on September 24.

Mr. Sunthorn said that he would like to congratulate Am for winning both the European and World Championships for the Thai people. This is the first time that athletes have been sent to compete in this event on behalf of the Thai national team and have brought back success. Pool Hayball is a new sport that combines snooker and pool. It is currently popular all over the world because of the high prize money and has expanded significantly in many countries. China has contacted the Billiards Sports Association to organize the competition, but it remains to be seen how big it will be. As for Am’s next event, she will compete in the Champion of Champion event in Australia in early October and the Asian Championship in Qatar.

Am Nakhon Pathom said that she had to thank the Billiards Sports Association for sending her to the competition because if the association didn’t support her, she definitely wouldn’t have been able to compete. In the past, she had to train hard, training in China, which is the origin of this sport, for 6 months, which made her forget about snooker. But at first, she lost all the time.

The Thai snooker player also said that competing in both the European Championship and the World Championship, she had set her sights on the semi-finals. However, after winning the European Championship first, she started to feel confident and was very happy to win the World Championship. From now on, she will look at it as a tournament and not set high goals because she does not want to put pressure on herself.

For Am Nakhon Pathom, she is a former 2018 World Amateur Snooker Champion who has turned to pool. In the final round of the 2024 Pool Hayball World Championship, Am defeated Diana Kodjaeva from Belgium 6-1. Rax won the world championship and prize money of 30,000 US dollars or approximately 1.02 million baht. This is a continued success after on September 18, “Am Nakhon Pathom” just won the European Pool Hayball Open 2024 and also won prize money of 10,000 US dollars or approximately 330,000 baht. In total, Am won 2 championships and received a total prize money of 1,350,000 baht.
