Billie Jean King has called for changes to the traditional tennis scoring system to attract a new generation of fans, reports The Telegraph.
The player stated that she wants the scoring system to be easier to understand. “I want to make it easier for the fans,” she explained.
“I think we could do 1-2-3-4 and not 15-15, 30-30. Because to a child, what does that mean? If we want 8, 9, 10, 11, 12-year-old children to get involved in our sport, we have to make it accessible for them, not for 60-year-old fans.”

King added that he also wants more recognition of tennis personalities by having players’ names emblazoned on the backs of shirts or blouses, similar to football and, more recently, rugby.
Billie Jean King Cup 2024 takes place between November 14 and 20, in Malaga, and Romania participated for the first time in the final tournament of the competition, from which it was eliminated on Thursday by the Japanese team, in the round of 16.
