“The best fans in the world!”

Billy Beronformer basketball player Red starsdecided to retire from professional sports and sent an emotional farewell message to the public regarding the end of his career.

Just two weeks ago, Berry signed a contract with Shanghai Sharksbut soon after that he made the decision to end his sports career.

In his farewell speech, Berry expressed his deep gratitude to all the people who shaped his career, especially referring to his time spent in Red Star and the fans he called “the best in the world.”

It’s not easy to stop chasing something, especially when you’ve been doing it your whole life. I grew up in the locker room, fell in love with the game spending time with my dad’s teams. I experienced the emotional ups and downs of sports, which created this crazy obsession for me at a young age. My mom drove me to all my matches and training sessions. She was always available, 24 hours a day, to get us where we needed to be. My brother was my idol, but also my target. He set a roadmap for me on how to become the player I became and pushed me to be better through my own success. My wife decided to join me on this crazy trip around the world and supported me every step of the way. Whenever I needed support, she was there to handle my frustrations, stress and anxiety that comes with professional sports. Together they formed a team that guided me through 37 countries and 10 years of professional career.

– Unfortunately, last year I faced the ugly side of the game. It’s an experience I wouldn’t wish on anyone. After HSS in New York managed to sort out the mess I was in, I struggled to come back better than before. I felt inside that I still had a few good years left in me, but I soon realized that wasn’t going to be the case. It wasn’t supposed to end like this. But as I sit here writing this, frustrated by the scars I’ve received, I’m extremely grateful to have made it this far. From my backyard in Olin, New York to Shanghai and all 35 countries in between, it’s been an amazing journey.
