THE PRICE of bitcoin reached a new record on Wednesday evening, a day after Republican candidate Donald Trump won the election – the price of this cryptocurrency was 76,231 dollars.
The most famous cryptocurrency rose by more than 10 percent, to $76,106, when Trump secured a second term in the White House, and the Republicans won the Senate, with a great chance of winning the House of Representatives.
This increase is the largest since the previous jump that occurred in March, when investors were pleased by the inflows into funds that track the price of bitcoin on the US stock market, according to Bloomberg.
The New York news agency reports that bitcoin has been seen by many as a so-called “Trump trade” because the former president adopted the digital asset during his campaign.
The crypto-industry has managed to break through to a high political level using massive campaign financing to promote its interests and influence decision-making, Bloomberg added.
