The latest bad news from the Pension House comes just at the beginning of the year. Not because pensions are NOT indexed. The Pensions Office is open on Fridays, but not for pensioners. Pensions will arrive too late.
Pensions have NOT been indexed since January 1, as promised by the Government. The pensioners were left without 330 lei from their pension because their pension did not increase by 12.2%.
The minimum pension would have increased from 1 January from 1,281 lei to 1,431 lei. Something that has NOT happened since the government has communicated that it does NOT have the money to increase pensions.
2,500,000 pensioners, affected. Black news from the Pension House!
The Pension House did not know for a long time whether to make payments with the reference value of 81 lei or with the indexed value of 91 lei. He only found out on Monday, when the TrenuleČ› Ordinance on the freezing of pensions at the December value entered into force.
The bad news is that pensions can be delivered 10 days late in January.
The Romanian Post and the postmen will work on January 3, respectively Friday, but they will NOT pay pensions, according to the sources Newsweek. The pensions should have been delivered between January 1 and January 15.
Postmen will be off between January 4 and 7. They will not return to work until Wednesday, January 8. But even on Wednesday they will not leave with the pensions. Thus, the delivery of pensions will be able to start only on January 9. The workload is enormous: 2,300,000 pensions need to be delivered.
January 11th and 12th will again be bank holidays due to the weekend.
The National Pension House and the county pension houses did not publish any information, did not send any press release regarding the pension delivery schedule for January 2025.
CONCLUSION Delivery of pensions by Post will take place on January 9 at the earliest and on January 10 thereafter. January 11 and 12 are public holidays. Distribution will only resume on Monday, January 13. 2,300,000 pensions must be delivered. At this rate, we fear that the delivery of pensions could exceed the January 15 deadline.
