Blackmagic Camera app for iPhone now supports Camera Control and more…

Blackmagic Design has upgraded its popular Camera app for iOS, and the new version 2.1 brings notable new features aimed primarily at iPhone 16 users. Key among them is the addition of Camera Control support, which allows users to adjust settings such as zoom, exposure, focus and ISO by simply dragging the Camera Control button. The update follows version 2.0, which introduced native iPad support in August.

The app now also supports direct access from the iPhone’s Control Center, Lock Screen, or Camera Control, streamlining how users can launch and access its features. Blackmagic has also expanded accessory compatibility, adding support for DockKit-compatible devices, including the Insta360 Flow Pro Gimbal, giving users more flexibility when shooting stabilized video on the go.

Finally, Blackmagic Camera 2.1 introduces higher bitrate recording options for H.264 and H.265, allowing users to capture video with improved quality without relying on ProRes. This change could help users reduce the storage requirements of their footage without sacrificing quality.
