BMW has refreshed the F 900 R and F 900 XR for 2025.

The updated BMW F 900 R and BMW F 900 XR have been announced, coming in a 2025 edition. Both feature lighter weight, improved ergonomics, improved suspension and revised aerodynamics. Most of the changes went to the XR sports tourer variant.

With both variants based on the same F 900 platform, they share several characteristics and components. The difference is that the F 900 R is a roadster in BMW terms, ie. nejked, while the F 900 XR is a sports tourer, hence the X designation.

The 895cc parallel twin engine is now Euro 5+ compliant but remains unchanged, including its maximum power output of 105PS at 8,500rpm and 93Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm.

The engine’s power is channeled through a slipper clutch, but now with the help of electronic engine torque control (MSR), which aims to reduce engine braking when downshifting at higher revs.

Both variants get upgraded 43mm inverted forks, fully adjustable. However, the R variant has 135mm and the XR has 170mm of fork travel.

The mono shock on each variant is adjustable for preload and rebound damping only. Owners can opt for the Dynamic ESA suspension.

The rims are made of cast aluminum and are borrowed from the S 1000 R, saving 1.8kg of weight at both ends. Lighter rims mean less unsprung weight which allows for better handling characteristics, faster acceleration and deceleration.

All in all, 3 kg has been saved for both the BMW F 900 R and the BMW F 900 XR.

Other revisions include the lights, which now feature turn signals that also function as brake lights. The headlights now feature Headlight Pro as standard, with additional LEDs that light up in the corners during cornering.

The ergonomics of the F 900 R have been revised to provide a sportier driving position. There is an optional sports seat to raise the ride height from 835mm to 860mm. There is also an optional low seat of 780 mm, which with the optional low suspension results in a seat height of 760 mm.

For the F 900 XR, the windscreen has been reshaped and hand guards are fitted as standard. There is an optional 30mm higher windscreen in the Premium package.

Electronic features include two standard driving modes – road and rain. Optional driving modes The Pro adds a dynamic mode as part of the Premium package. Dynamic Traction Control and BMW Motorrad ABS Pro are included as standard, as is Dynamic Brake Control, which improves braking.
