Over the last two years there have been many proposals for tuning the BMW M3, but if we are not mistaken, none have been as radical as the new MH3 800 from Manhart. At least when it comes to power. The tuner from North Rhine Westphalia promises 855 HP and 1,090 Nm.
So far, Manhart has offered us several variants of the M3 station wagon with 650 hp. As a reminder, the serial power of the S58 biturbo six-cylinder engine is currently 530 hp and 650 Nm of maximum torque. How this new jump in power was achieved, the tuner explains in great detail. In addition to the reprogramming of the engine’s electronics, extensive hardware modifications are key that make the M3 Touring a real beast.
New, forged pistons and connecting rods work in the cylinders. In addition, an air cooler from Wagner Tuning, a carbon intake manufactured in their workshop, as well as a Remus stainless steel exhaust system with flap were installed. The latter is combined with Manhart downpipes and 200-cell catalytic converters. However, these improvements – as you may have guessed – do not have TÜV approval. The same applies to replacement pipes without DPF.
In order for the eight-speed automatic transmission not to capitulate in the face of all this new power, Manhart strengthened it further. According to them, it can now handle up to 1,300 Nm of torque. This is especially interesting because the tuner has two more power options in the pipeline.
The brakes have not been modified, but the stock ceramic brakes should be more than adequate. When it comes to the suspension, a set of adjustable coil springs from H&R is used, as well as an additional carbon “bone”. Golden wheels can also be seen in the pictures. The wheels are from the Raffa program, measuring 10.5×20 inches at the front and 11.5×21 inches at the rear, with tires measuring 285/30 and 305/25.
For the sporty look of the most practical M3, Manhart prepared a kit with carbon fiber accessories, including a front fascia, spoiler, two-piece lower spoiler and hood. On the sides, lamellar moldings are installed on the front fenders and door sills. At the rear, the package is completed by side bumper inserts and a carbon fiber trunk spoiler.
This powerful station wagon will also be exhibited at the Essen Motor Show, which this year runs from November 30 to December 8.
