BMW made the legendary NFS M3 in reality

The dream of video game fans has now come true: thanks to the collaboration between BMW and Electronic Arts, the game released in 2005 Need for Speed: Most Wanted the iconic M3 GTR model can finally be admired as a real car.

The special vehicle can be seen in Munich at the BMW Welt exhibition center on November 27 and January 6.

It’s the car E46 M3 based on its foundations (more specifically, the M3 GTR), it received the same silver and blue foil that we saw in the game almost 20 years ago. With this, BMW not only treats old fans, but also Need for Speed series also celebrates its 30th anniversary.

“The M3 GTR is one of the most recognizable cars in Need for Speed history, so for the 30th anniversary we wanted to create something special” said John Stanley, Chief Creative Officer of Need for Speed: Unbound.

The finished car is not only available at the show, but also in the latest update of Unbound.

A Vol 9: Prepare for the Lockdown after installing the update, players can drive a special motorcycle, the BMW S 1000 RR, in addition to the M3 GTR – the first motorcycle in the history of the Need for Speed series!

The new content includes additional iconic vehicles such as the Honda Integra Type R and the Subaru Impreza WRX STi. The update is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

We tried the latest part of NFS last year:

In the street version of the BMW M3 GTR, the six-cylinder engine of the basic version was replaced with a V8 power source, because this version was made for homologation purposes, so that GTRs could compete in the American Le Mans series. But the street version was not much softer than the racing car itself: there are no rear seats, no upholstery, no heating, and the sound system was also trashed, so they were able to bring the car down to 1,350 kilos.

The 4.0-liter V8 block has 460 horsepower in the racing version, “only” 350 in the street version, and a peak torque of 365 Nm. The base E46 M3 inline-six engine had 343 horsepower, but the car weighs a good 200 kilos more.
