Domestic. The border control at Arlanda has contributed to the Pensions Authority stopping future incorrect payments such as guaranteed pensions.
Anyone who has moved abroad or who has stayed abroad for an extended period of time may lose the right to guaranteed pension, housing allowance or elderly support. Changes such as moving abroad must therefore always be reported to the Swedish Pensions Authority.
With the help of information from the border control, SEK 21,698,755 has been stopped in future incorrect payments in 2024. The number of closed cases concerning incorrect payments is 80 percent, which is a sharp increase compared to 2023 when it was 44 percent.
The cooperation between the Border Police Unit and the Pensions Authority started in the fall of 2022 and takes place within the framework of a joint work between authorities that enables the sharing of information between authorities.
– We are very satisfied with the accurate work of the border control this year. We have continuously coordinated with the Pensions Authority and gradually developed an effective way to detect suspected incorrect payments, says Johanna Åström, local police area manager at Arlanda, on the police’s website.
When the Pensions Authority discovers an incorrect payment, they stop or correct the payment and then calculate a refund and a FFU amount (prevented future incorrect payment). These amounts can be high at the Pensions Authority, mainly due to the fact that certain benefits are in principle paid out for life.
