Bornholm children have welcomed the royal couple with flags in hand on the rocky island of Bornholm, which is the first stop on King Frederik and Queen Mary’s late summer tour.
The royal ship “Dannebrog” docked a little after 10 o’clock. On the dock, among others, is the mayor of Bornholm, Jacob Trøst (K), who was the first to greet the couple.
After this, according to tradition, a ninefold life was shouted for the king.
Ready on the quay in Rønne were several representatives from the official Bornholm, whom the king greeted. Shortly after, it was the turn of other attendees.
How many have turned up is unknown, but Billed-Bladet describes that there is congestion on the quay due to the large number of people present.
The trip to Bornholm is the first stop on the four-day long late summer tour, where the couple both come around Arø, Assens and Vejle.
When the couple have finished greeting the locals on Monday morning, they board a carriage with the mayor and drive through Rønne.
The coach’s final stop is the Rønne Theater, where the mayor gives an official welcome speech.
In addition, King Frederik and Queen Mary will, among other things, go on a hike from Ekkodalen to Hareløkkerne and visit Østerlar’s Church in Gudhjem.
The last item on today’s program is a reception on “Dannebrog” before the train begins on Ærø on Tuesday.
