Bose gives its new wireless speaker a stylish design

Manufacturer Bose has unveiled a new wireless speaker. The SoundLink Home Bluetooth Speaker has a stylish design with an aluminum housing.

Bose today started selling its new Bluetooth speaker. It is available in two colors: light gray and dark gray. The Soundlink Home measures 21.6 by 11.2 by 5.8 centimeters and weighs less than a kilo.

According to Bose, the device uses special technology to produce deep bass tones. For an even richer sound, you can connect two speakers together for stereo reproduction.

Battery life of nine hours

The SoundLink Home can not only be used wirelessly via Bluetooth, but also has a USB-C connection for direct connection to, for example, a laptop. The SoundLink Home has a battery that Bose claims lasts about nine hours. It takes four hours to charge the device. This is done via the USB-C connection.

The speaker doesn’t support Wi-Fi, which also means you can’t access Apple AirPlay.

Built-in microphone for calling

Handy for multitaskers: the speaker has a built-in microphone with which you can make phone calls. You can also use your phone’s voice assistant via the speaker.

Less useful is that the SoundLink Home is not resistant to water or dust. With its anodized aluminum housing and fabric cover, it is mainly intended for indoor use, where the speaker can be seen in your interior.

Price and availability

The new Bose SoundLink Home is now for sale in the US for $219, but will soon be available in the Netherlands. The euro price is not yet known.
